What is the Scale Up Visa?

The Scale Up Visa is for those people with exceptional skills and talent to come to the UK and work for high growth Companies and businesses in that particular field.  Itt is hoped that this will boost the UK ecenmoy.

Who Is the Scale Up Visa for?

Businesses will have the flexibility to sponsor individuals in the science and engineering fields as well as architects and programmers.  On the list are:

  • scientists
  • engineers
  • programmers
  • software developers
  • research and development professionals
  • economists
  • architects
  • technicians
  • financial and investment advisers

When can you apply for the Scale Up Visa?

The announcement came out on the 22 August 2022.

What are the requirements for the Scale Up Visa?

It is a sponsored visa which means that the company or business is required to have a license so that they may sponsor talented individuals.  It is similar to the High Skilled visa.

You will need a job offer and to meet the English language requirements.

Companies, including small businesses and those in the tech and financial services sectors, that have achieved growth of 20% or more in either employment or turnover year-on-year for at least 3 years and employed a minimum of 10 people at the start of the 3 years will be eligible to sponsor talented individuals through the Scale-up visa.

What will talented individual receive?

For those talented individuals who do get sponsored by a high growth Companies and businesses they will receive a 2-year visa with leave to remain in the UK.  It is also said that there would not be any need to require further permission after the first 6 months.

You will receive a minimum salary as stated appropriate for your level of expertise’s.

You could potentially settle in the UK after 5 years.

What are the fees?

The current fees are £715 per application.

The NHS surcharge fee for each year of your visa.
